A Good Day!

After being away from writing for six whole weeks, it's tough to get back into work mode. But I have so many projects started or about to be started, as well as launches and book talks coming up, that I can't afford to procrastinate. With so much swirling around in my head, I was beginning to run in circles, so I decided to make up a To Do list. At the moment there are 26 items on it. I attacked the list diligently yesterday and managed to cross nine items off it, but I also added two more to the bottom. I have a feeling it's going to continue like that, but as long as I keep slogging away at it, I think I can win.

The thing that really got me in gear was the six weeks of mail that arrived. When I got back from grocery shopping, it was piled up on the kitchen table. Of course, there were the usual bills and statements, but there was also some pretty good stuff there too. Like a nice cheque -- I always like getting money -- especially after spending so much on my holiday. But there were books there too -- a couple of copies of The Trouble with Liberty, because it has recently been reprinted AGAIN. That book has been very, very good to me. Then there were two copies of El plan de Zee. That's Zee's Way in Spanish. Finally, there was an advance copy of my newest book, Pharaohs and Foot Soldiers, which means it is just a matter of days until it will be in bookstores.

If that's not inspiration to get me back to work, I don't know what is.
