Kristin Butcher... has novel ideas

It's getting exciting! The cover is done, which means the book is that much closer to being finished. This is really a learning experience for me. What I've discovered is that the production of a non-fiction book -- especially an illustrated one -- is very different than a fiction book. I have so much more input. The illustrator asks for my opinion on the accuracy of her drawings (not that I'm an authority), and the art director asks for my help in making decisions about the layout -- like icons and borders. Just today I found myself rewriting a few entries so that they'd fit better with the illustrations. Writing this book has definitely been a whirlwind experience, but I've really, really enjoyed it.
